StarSharing Blue and White: Nutritional Supplement Packaging

Inspired by Oriental Porcelain

This packaging design for StarSharing Blue and White nutritional supplements draws inspiration from the rich history of blue and white porcelain in Jiangxi province, China. The design showcases the regional visual characteristics of the brand, while emphasizing the purity and safety of the product ingredients.

This unique packaging stands out in the nutritional supplement retail industry by breaking away from traditional text-heavy designs. Instead, it presents a clean and comfortable style that resonates with consumers, creating a sense of connection through the background of Oriental culture.

The packaging consists of an inner bottle, an outer box, and a sticker. The inner bottle is made of pure white PET plastic, with the surface pattern presented through screen printing in Pantone colors. The outer box is crafted from white cardboard, featuring a unique cutting design that showcases the porcelain bottle at a reasonable angle. The box is intentionally left without any printing, reducing pollution and allowing the blue and white pattern to take center stage. The sticker, made of white plastic film, displays a brand series pattern to distinguish different product categories.

The dimensions of the packaging are 80mm in width, 150mm in height, and 80mm in depth.

To interact with the packaging, simply tear off the sticker on the top, open the carton, and remove the inner bottle. The lid can then be opened to access the product.

The design project for StarSharing Blue and White began in Shanghai in June 2018 and was completed in December 2018. The products were subsequently launched in the market.

Extensive research was conducted through online sales channels to understand the nutrition market and packaging trends in China. The design team discovered that the effectiveness of copywriting accounts for over 70% of the packaging's impact, with the remaining 30% being attributed to various styles. With this in mind, the team believed that an outstanding packaging design should leverage local culture to enhance the brand's power.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was ensuring that the visual effect of blue and white porcelain would be widely accepted by consumers. Competing brands heavily relied on effective text publicity, raising concerns about whether consumers would trust a brand that did not follow suit. Additionally, Chinese regulations require the inclusion of blue health product labeling, which posed a legal obstacle. However, the design team successfully found a reasonable solution to address these challenges.

The StarSharing Blue and White packaging design has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2019. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
